Over the years, the number of restaurant guides has exploded. It’s come to the point where its become difficult to know a good recommendation from a bad one. Back when Zagat’s ruled the NYC restaurant review game in the 1990’s things were simpler. Zagat’s guide, while utilitarian, was relatively consistent. Nowadays, New Yorkers turn to a host of different sources for restaurant recommendations from the beloved (The) Infatuation, Eater.com and Thrillist.
As New Yorkers who love food here at Food and Frame, we wanted to publish a restaurant list that suites us. Even with all of the guides out there, we still consistently get requests for restaurant recommendations. Often we find that our recommendations are a bit different from what’s out there. For example, we’re yet to find a good list that describes the best way of making a reservation at each restaurant. Maybe it’s just that we have a different view of things, but without further ado you can find our inaugural list below:
